Ocala Attorney Jorge Colon
Here's how Jorge Colon (A Florida Attorney) ripped off my handicapped mother;
To Whom it May Concern,
I wish to file a formal complaint against Jorge Colon. My mother disabled and with no money) gave Mr. Colon a $1500 retainer for services which he has not rendered with the exception of an initial consultation. Because of lack of contact and not accomplishing anything for over a week I hired my original attorney to represent me. Mr. Colon contacted Mr. Reich (the attorney that represented me) and knew of this arrangement. Mr. Reich can be contacted for verification of these details at 352-351-8030.
I requested that he, Mr. Colon, refund the charge and he has been giving me a hard time ever since.
Below is the letter that was submitted to Sears disputing his claim that he gave services, when in fact he did not.
I just need to know where and with who do I file a formal complaint. I also intend to file a complaint through the Better Business Bureau and if need be file a small claims case when I return to the states in December.
Could you please advise me what my next steps should be?

Dear Kathy,
Below is an exact account of our encounter with Mr. Colon.
On May 25th, 2008 Gary XXXX, the son of Helen XXXX, (friend of the card holder – Lee XXXX), was detained in the Orlando Airport by the Immigration department and then by the Orange County Sheriffs department. He had an outstanding warrant from 1995 for a driving while license suspended charge. He was requested held by Marion County Sheriff’s department which then picked him up at the Orange County Jail and transported him to Marion County Jail on Monday, the 28th of April.
Jorge Colon was referred by another attorney and we then arranged to have Sears pay $1500 as a retainer. Mr. Colon did not require an initial fee for a consultation, as most of the attorney’s do not.
Mr. Colon visited Gary at the Marion County jail on Wednesday for a 30 minute meeting in which he agreed to represent Gary. He then made plans to come back the following Monday as he had a function to attend on that Friday.
After not showing that day and again the following day, and according to Gary’ “not doing any research or having any information for me after several attempts”, Gary had funds wired from England an retained the services of his original attorney from 15 years’ ago, Jim Reich.
At this point Mr. Reich verifies that he contacted Mr. Colon to establish what relationship he had with Gary. To which he was told Gary had retained Mr. Reich.
Gary left two messages and emailed Mr. Colon on three occasions; the last being on January 6th (he has copies of the emails) to inquire about a refund to no avail.
The last email is reprinted along with Mr. Colon’s response;

Hi Jorge,
The sentence was deemed illegal and dropped and I am as such, out of jail.
I understand that my mother has attempted to contact you on several occasions to arrange the refund of the $1500 fee that was sent, to no avail.
Since Menger consulted me in-house for $100, and that seems to be the going rate, if any, I am willing to accept a refund of $1400.
Please expedite this refund at your earliest convenience as a charge dispute has been forwarded to the credit card company in the absence of your reply/response.

The response from Mr. Colon did not come until July 1st and was as follows;
Please give me a call.
At this point the complaint or chargeback request had already been put through as we failed to receive any contact from Mr. Colon.
Since Mr. Colon did not request any consultation fee, and he did not provide any service for me, I requested a full refund.
